The AES67 open format is here and the demonstrations at ISE 2016 reflected the growing importance of network interoperability in AV. Several initiatives promoted by the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) at this show served to demonstrate how important this will be for audio in general.

With an all-time high record of nearly 20,000 visitors, the 139th Audio Engineering Society Convention in New York City was a huge success, according to the AES final report. A major highlight at the show and attracting a lot of attention, the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) promoted for the very first time in public a live demonstration of audio networking based on the new AES67 interoperability standard.

AES67-2015 Revision Confirms Stability of the Audio Network Interoperability Standard

A maintenance revision to AES67-2013 – the AES standard for high-performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability – has been issued. The revision, called AES67-2015, clarifies some of the interoperability requirements, based on general implementation and “plugfest” experience.
