Headquartered in Harman's global center of acoustic engineering in Northridge, California, Harman Luxury Audio Group brings together JBL, JBL Synthesis, Mark Levinson, Revel, and ARCAM to offer high-performance audio systems, from the finest stereo listening to state-of-the-art multichannel home theater systems. At CES 2023, Harman Luxury Audio debuted new products from its JBL brand.
Following the launch of the compact JBL 4305P Studio Monitors earlier in 2022, Harman's Luxury Audio division now expanded its new consumer Studio Monitor range with a new larger model, engineering by the Northridge, California-based company over the years. The new larger 4329P includes two speakers, each featuring a patented JBL 2409H 1-inch compression driver, High-Definition Imaging (HDI) horn, and JW200P-4 8-inch pure-pulp black paper cone woofer with a cast frame. Each speaker is powered by a 300W amplifier, with 250W delivered to the woofer and 50W to the compression driver. Both are accurately controlled by a sophisticated digital signal processor (DSP) that assures each driver blends seamlessly to create a dynamic and immersive listening experience.
And although these JBL Studio Monitors look very much like other classics from the brand, these latest models are in fact connected speakers, intended for modern homes, where the concept of all-in-one might be appealing. The speaker system’s integrated streaming engine provides both wired and wireless network audio capabilities via built-in Google Chromecast, Apple AirPlay 2, and Bluetooth 5.3 aptX Adaptive audio. A 24-bit/192KHz high-resolution DAC ensures music comes across with the highest fidelity, while MQA technology enables playback of MQA audio files with the sound of the original master recording. For those with extensive music libraries, the 4329P will be certified as a Roon Ready product.
In addition to premium wireless audio, the 4329P provides extensive connections for analog and digital physical sources, including USB, optical, and 3.5mm stereo inputs, as well as a professional-grade combination XLR / 1/4-inch TRS phono input for use with balanced or unbalanced signals.
On the heels of the smaller 4305P Studio Monitor, the 4329P takes listening to the next level with its step-up compression driver, larger 8-inch woofer, and twice the amplifier power of its smaller sibling. During the audition in the Harman showcase at the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas, the performance of the 4329P didn't disappoint, with excellent, effortless dynamics, a powerful deep bass response, and crystalline detail. In comparison to the smaller 4305P's, the mid range sounds slightly more subtle, which likely is explained by the fact that the 4329P would require a bigger room for its increased dynamics.
"With its built-in amplification, DSP, streaming engine, and variety of analog and digital inputs — all in one complete system — the 4329P Studio Monitor Powered Loudspeaker is an extremely versatile solution that opens up a world of possibilities for all music lovers," says Jim Garrett, Senior Director, Product Strategy and Planning, Harman Luxury Audio. "Whether it’s enjoying hi-res streaming from their favorite service or listening to physical sources like turntables and CD players, the 4329P makes it simple for everyone to experience the joy of music exactly how they wish to experience it."
The 4329P will be available in the second quarter of 2023 with a manufacturer suggested retail price of $4,500 per system pair. It is available in a choice of natural walnut or black walnut furniture-grade wood veneer finish options. It is suggested to use the 4329P with the optional JS-80 floor stands to position the 4329P at the ideal listening height. The JS-80 stands are available and sold separately.
New 10-Inch JBL L10cs Powered Subwoofer
Also presented at CES 2023 as part of the new Harman Luxury Audio Group product launches for 2023, the new JBL L10cs Classic Series 10-inch down-firing powered subwoofer can deliver low-frequency support for a range of JBL speakers and audio systems.
The L10cs’ 10-inch, down-firing polycellulose white cone woofer is driven by an advanced 250W RMS (500W dynamic) built-in amplifier. Additional features include auto on/off, adjustable crossover, phase, and volume, and a bass reflex system with rear-firing tuned ports. Available in black and natural walnut real-wood veneers, the L10cs is designed to complement a wide variety of JBL loudspeakers and seamlessly blend into any décor. At CES 2023, the subwoofer was paired with JBL’s Classic Series passive and active loudspeakers including the L75ms music system, and the new Classic Series electronics including the SA550 integrated amplifier.
