Test Bench: Faital Pro HF110 1" Neodymium Motor Compression Driver

This Test Bench characterizes a 1" conical exit compression driver from Faital Pro that was measured along with the brand's STH100 elliptical Tractrix flare horn (80° × 70°). Driven by a voice coil wound with aluminum wire on a high Qm non-conducting Kapton former, and powered by a neodymium ring magnet, the HF110 compression driver targets applications such as stage monitors and PA speakers with a 2kHz recommended crossover frequency (second-order or higher high-pass filter).

A Compression Driver Trilogy and More From Lavoce at ISE 2025

The 2025 trade show season is in full force, and Lavoce Italiana is crossing the Atlantic after attending the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA, and now moving closer to home, for Integrated Systems Europe in Barcelona, Spain. There, the company will be introducing three neodymium magnet HF compression driver models: DN07.10LTF with 0.75” exit and low Fs, DN10.20 with 1” exit, and DN20.30TK with 2” exit. These compression drivers join the recently announced CAF series ferrite common magnet coaxials and other new models.

Test Bench: B&C Speakers’ DE640-16 Compression Driver

The B&C Speakers DE640-16 Compression Driver is a 1.4" exit design, which along with the recent DCM414 midrange and the DE360 models represent a line of two-point suspension ring radiator type compression diaphragms. The DE640-16 features a 65mm (2.6") Polymer diaphragm and neodymium ring magnet and is specified for a recommended crossover frequency around 1kHz, and a 140W continuous power rating. For this Test Bench, the DE640-16 was matched with the Eighteen Sound XT1464 elliptical flare horn.

Test Bench: B&C Speakers 1” DH450-8 Compression Driver

The DH450-8 ultra-compact compression driver from B&C Speakers incorporates a 1.7" high temperature Polymer diaphragm driven by a 44mm voice coil wound with aluminum wire on a high Qm Kapton former. Its most fascinating feature is the patent-pending phase plug with a deliberately twisted internal channel, which is intended to improve the overall frequency response. For this characterization, the DH450-8 1" neodymium driver is measured along with the B&C Speakers ME10v2 90x60 hyperbolic cosine flare horn, made from injection-molded ABS. Test Bench: The New DE350-8 Ultra-Compact 1" Compression Driver from B&C Speakers

This Test Bench characterizes an ultra-compact (under 60mm diameter) compression driver, along with the B&C Speakers ME10v2 90°x60° coverage horn. The really cool feature of the DE350-8 is the patent-pending phase plug. Inside, the DE350 has a round symmetrical outside channel, and an inside channel with a patent-pending twist for overall improved frequency response. Weighing in at a mere 275 gram, it is an ideal candidate for the new generation of lighter, more compact line array loudspeakers.
