Cirrus Logic Expands Pro Audio Portfolio with New Range of ADCs and DACs

June 24 2025, 14:00
Cirrus Logic announced the launch of its latest additions to the Pro Audio product family: two analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and two digital-to-analog converters (DACs) that are designed to deliver exceptional audio performance at a cost-effective price point. Highlighting affordability without compromising audio quality, these new devices are tailored for hifi playback, installed audio systems, professional audio setups, musical instruments, and USB audio interfaces.

Building on the success of Cirrus Logic’s professional audio components, the two new ADCs and DACs from Cirrus Logic further expand the company’s product portfolio to meet emerging applications. These components offer a premium feature set with exceptional performance at an alternative price point, making them accessible to a wider variety of end products. This launch underscores Cirrus Logic’s commitment to meeting the needs of the prosumer audio market, providing more manufacturers with access to high-quality solutions that cater to a broader range of audio applications.

“These new additions reflect our dedication to delivering innovative solutions that balance performance and affordability,” says Jonathan Taylor, Pro Audio Product Marketing Manager at Cirrus Logic. “By broadening our portfolio, we’re giving customers access to our technology not only for high-end products but also for mid-tier devices — ensuring consistent, outstanding quality across all levels of audio equipment.”

Key features of the new Cirrus Logic ADCs and DACs include integrated Hybrid Gain Control that enables precise adjustments for optimal audio capture and playback, and differentiated digital filters allowing users to customize their sound signature for unique applications. All the new converters deliver exceptional power-to-performance ratio, combining energy efficiency with high-quality sound reproduction. And as with previous devices in the Cirrus Logic Pro Audio series, they support diverse audio setups with seamless integration.

The new CS5308S is a high-performance, 32-bit resolution, 8-channel ADC that supports differential analog input and 32-bit digital output via the audio serial port (ASP) at sample rates up to 768kHz. The CS5308S uses a 5th-order, multibit sigma-delta modulator followed by digital filtering and decimation. This provides a dynamic range of over 118dB and THD+N below -105dB all within a 25mW/ch power budget. The device can be powered from a single rail and controlled by either hardware pins, I2C or SPI, making it both flexible and easy to integrate. This, together with Cirrus’s proprietary hybrid gain control feature, makes the CS5308S ideal for digital mixing consoles, DAW interfaces, effects processors and audio/video receivers. The CS5304S is an equivalent 4-channel ADC device with the same exact level of specifications.

The new Cirrus Logic CS4308S is a high-performance, 32-bit resolution 8-channel DAC, with support for differential analog outputs and 32-bit digital input via the audio serial port (ASP) at sample rates up to 768kHz. The CS4308S uses a proprietary analog FIR architecture to reduce out-of-band noise and minimize the external component requirements. This provides a dynamic range of 118dB and THD+N below -110dB, all within a 7mW/ch power budget. The device can be powered from a single rail and controlled by either hardware pins, I2C or SPI, making the device ideal for digital mixers, USB audio interfaces, home audio and audio video receivers, plus musical instruments such as synthesizers, DJ mixers and amplifiers. The Cirrus Logic CS4304S is the 4-channel DAC model, with the same exact level of performance and specifications.

“In a recent series of critical listening tests, Cirrus Logic’s Pro Audio technology stood out conclusively against high-end, industry-recognized studio converters,” says George Massenburg, Grammy Award-winning recording engineer, producer, designer, inventor, educator, and CEO and founder of George Massenburg Labs. “Cirrus Logic’s dynamic range, transparency, and fine detail converge brilliantly with their relative ease of implementation — these are no less than the future of converters for professional audio applications.”

Cirrus Logic Pro Audio team members, Jonathan Taylor and Andrew Howlett, visited legendary, Grammy Award-winning recording engineer, producer, designer and inventor, George Massenburg, at the famous Blackbird Studio in Nashville. The inventor of the parametric equalizer, also continues to innovate leveraging Cirrus Logic technology at George Massenburg Labs.
“It's inspiring to see Cirrus Logic continue to explore the boundaries of converter art and science with enthusiasm, and with innovations that promote the art of music and sound recording,” Massenburg continues. “Knowing that the new ADCs and DACs are based on the same extraordinary IP, I'm confident they will charm hearts and souls of listeners, critical and casual, with their musicality.”

The new ADCs (CS5308S and CS5304S) and DACs (CS4308S and CS4304S) are now available for sampling. Developers can configure these devices using Cirrus Logic’s SoundClear Studio software, ensuring flexibility, and ease of use.
