Bang & Olufsen announced the new Beoplay Eleven noise-cancelling earbuds, which the Danish company says use its best ANC implementation to date. An evolution of the brand's Beoplay EX earbuds, the new Beoplay Eleven aim to deliver an elevated listening experience, updating the ANC to the latest technology with natural Transparency Mode, and six upgraded microphones for crystal-clear calls. Retailing for $499 USD and introducing replaceable batteries that last up to eight hours in a single charge, the Beoplay Eleven earbuds are a bold new lifestyle option from Bang & Olufsen.
The original design of the Beoplay EX earbuds, launched in 2022, was extremely successful for Bang & Olufsen. The design by Thomas Bentzen acknowledged the market reference design from Apple, with the familiar stem-based shape and earbuds contour, transformed into a refined aesthetic for brand-aware users. Based on a Qualcomm platform, the original Beoplay EX also introduced Adaptive Active Noise Cancellation and aptX Adaptive technology and used a 9.2mm speaker driver, the biggest ever used for a true-wireless device by the brand, representing a significant upgrade in sound reproduction, without compromising on comfort. Its superior background noise reduction and an upgrade in call quality later led Bang & Olufsen to create the Cisco 950 wireless earbuds, adding enhanced security and device management optimized for Webex Meetings and Calling and for office use. An interesting case study of repackaging a lifestyle product for professional users.
The same design language of the Beoplay EX is now expanded and refined in the new Beoplay Eleven for lifestyle-oriented users, updating the concept to extend its premium positioning in the competitive segment. Available in two striking colors - Natural Aluminum and Copper Tone - the materials and finishes are inspired by fine jewelry and use polished aluminum with a gem-like shine, common to the lightweight and durable USB-C charging case. The use of high-quality materials and clear bet on a premium segment also draws inspiration from the recently introduced Beoplay H100 headphones, which are its most luxurious and advanced noise-cancellation headphones to date.
Updating the successful Beoplay EX design with the same 9.2mm drivers, the new Beoplay Eleven wireless earbuds bring the benefits of the latest Bluetooth specifications with Multipoint Connectivity, and enhance the adaptive ANC with the six updated MEMS microphones that the company says work even more efficiently. The ANC implementation that Bang & Olufsen says is 2x better compared to Beoplay EX, is also improved with pressure-relief outlets while the updated Transparency Mode (described as 1.8x better) means that users can feel more of their surroundings, or cancel it with just a tap.
For improved voice call performance, the Beoplay Eleven add to the refined design of the microphone inlet, providing clearer quality. The introduction of a padded fine mesh effectively filters out wind noise, delivering better clarity and precision under all conditions. The Beoplay Eleven earbuds also come with premium silicone moulds that suit any ear shape, plus Comply memory foram tips for optimum comfort and fit. With an IP57-rated build, the earbuds can be enjoyed, come rain or shine.
The charging case is Qi Wireless charging compatible, and the battery playtime allows for up to 6 hours of use with ANC (8 hours without ANC) and adding up to 20 hours in the charging case. Supported codecs remain the same: Qualcomm aptX Adaptive plus AAC (and SBC). No reference is made yet about the possibility of updating the Beoplay Eleven earbuds to LE Audio or Auracast.
The Beoplay Eleven earbuds in Natural Aluminum are available now at Bang & Olufsen stores and online. The bold Beoplay Eleven Copper Tone launches on December 17, 2024.
