Adam Audio, the brand that was recently acquired by British group Focusrite, announced the new T8V 2-way active studio monitor, the latest addition to its affordable T Series range. The series already included the T5V with a 5" woofer, and the T7V with 7" woofer, all using the same U-ART ribbon high-frequency driver, beveled cabinet design, rear-firing bass reflex port, plus built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalization. The new T8V features an 8-inch woofer paired with more powerful amplification to generate a lower bass extension, adequate to larger project and home studios.
Adam Audio continues to extend the same formula of building nearfield studio monitors based on its popular Ribbon Tweeter, with multiple sizes and dimensions and driver arrangements for each series. According to the company, the new T8V offers improved performance and specifications within its price class, with a frequency response that reaches down 33 Hz and the ability to project an impressive SPL of 118 dB per pair.
Adam Audio’s T-Series line of studio monitors was launched in 2018 with the T5V 5-inch woofer and T7V 7-inch woofer models, followed in 2019 by the T10S subwoofer. Just like the previous two monitors in the T-Series lineup, the T8V makes use of the same technology developed for the company’s high end S-Series available at a very affordable price point. The new 8" woofer used in the new model uses a lighter polypropylene cone with better response even at louder sound volumes.
Common to these Adam Audio monitors is the U-ART tweeter (Unique Accelerated Ribbon Tweeter) which provides a faster response in the high-range even with complex transients, combined with a waveguide with the same dispersion-control attributes as the HPS waveguide in the S-Series - allowing more consistency and wider imaging. The Class D amplifiers for tweeter and woofer offer ample power for the 8-inch woofer, delivering 20 W and 70 W respectively and providing 118 dB max SPL per pair.
All T-Series models feature a beveled cabinet design, rear-firing bass reflex port, built-in DSP-controlled driver crossovers and equalization, and analog inputs over XLR and RCA for balanced and unbalanced line signals; and are compatible with the ADAM Audio T10S subwoofer.
"ADAM Audio is very well-known throughout the world for its high performance, precision studio monitors,” says Christian Hellinger, ADAM Audio´s Managing Director. “The T-Series offers renowned ADAM Audio monitor quality and precision to an even broader range of customers, and we are very pleased to be able to add the 8-inch woofer T8V to the family.”
The new T8V is available end of May. The Suggested Retail Price is $299 U.S.
