About Vance Dickason
Vance Dickason has been working as a professional in the loudspeaker industry since 1974. A contributing editor to Speaker Builder magazine (now audioXpress) since 1986, in November 1987 he became editor of Voice Coil, the monthly Periodical for the Loudspeaker Industry, today published by KCK Media Corp. His globally acclaimed book Loudspeaker Design Cookbook is now in its 8th Edition, published by KCK Media. A life member of the Audio Engineering Society, Vance received the 1995 AES Citation Award for his long term contribution to audio education, and the 2013 Beryllium Award, Lifetime achievement from ALMA (Associating of Loudspeaker Manufacturers and Acoustics, now ALTI Association). Since 2001, he also does business as Vance Dickason Consultancy based out of Portland, Oregon, working as an independent engineering consultant to loudspeaker manufacturers.

New for 2014, Digmoda released the Digital Power (DP) line of new price-competitive subwoofer plate amplifiers. The new Digmoda DPSW1000 is a software programmable subwoofer plate amplifier. Everything needed to adjust the system is accessible from the main control screen.

The Hill Acoustics Tetrahedral Test Chamber (TTC) produces consistently accurate results when measuring loudspeakers. Dolby Atmos Entertainment Comes to the Home Via Blu-ray and VUDU

Dolby Laboratories announced that Paramount Pictures and Warner Bros. movies featuring Dolby Atmos soundtracks will soon be available for home theater enthusiasts with Dolby Atmos enabled AV receivers and speakers. Dolby Atmos movies will be available this fall on Blu-ray Disc and through leading content service provider VUDU, the first streaming service to announce support for Dolby Atmos films.

New K&K P750 QC Analyzer for loudspeaker, micro speakers and headphones testing

K&K Development has released a new analyzer specifically designed for high-speed quality control. The new P750 QC and measurement system connects to a PC by USB and was designed as an economic solution for testing of loudspeakers in a production environment or lab environment. The Danish company says it is the right solution for micro speakers, headphones and handsets testing.

New England Audio Resource (N.E.A.R., which was originally called New England Audio Research) was founded in 1988 by Bill Kieltyka. Interestingly, the company purchased a lot of the transducer tooling from Rudy Bozak, and its line was always based, as with Bozak, on aluminum cone woofers and tweeters. (For a period of time, I designed the networks for the entire N.E.A.R. line of two-channel and home-theater speakers).
