New Speaker Drivers for 2015 from B&C Speakers

Italian loudspeaker specialist B&C Speakers introduced several new drivers and improved solutions since NAMM 2015 and the 2015 ProLight+Sound show in Frankfurt. In addition to the new MBX woofer series, B&C Speakers released three new titanium diaphragm compression drivers, two large diameter subwoofers, two midbass drivers, and three sealed back midrange devices.
The Prolight+Sound 2015 trade show in Frankfurt, Germany, had more visitors from all over the world and 928 companies showcased their products and services (vs. 898 exhibitors in 2014), which is a new record on the occasion of its 20th anniversary. There was also an abundance of interesting new products exhibited, which included several new drivers from B&C Speakers.
In addition to the new MBX Woofer Series, 6MBX44 and 8MBX51, which we previously highlighted, B&C also introduced its new 1,000 W, value-oriented, 18RBX100 Subwoofer. New additions to the high frequency range include the DE52, a new 51mm diaphragm high frequency driver, which offers excellent value and performance as a small diaphragm, 1.4” exit alternative.
The 18RBX100 is designed to be a value, priced for less than B&C’s 18TBXC100 subwoofer. Its features include 2,000 W continuous power handling, a 4” copper voice coil, an aluminum shorting ring, double silicone spiders, 97 dB sensitivity, and 10 mm XMAX.
Among the new offerings is the DE680TN, an updated DE620 with a new diaphragm and surround and the same phase plug technology as the B&C DE880 series. It features a 1.4” throat, a 2.5” copper-clad aluminum wire (CCAW) voice coil, titanium diaphragm, a neodymium motor, a copper shorting ring, with 107.5 dB sensitivity.
The new DE990TN is an inside magnet compression driver with a 3.4” diaphragm that is the same package diameter as B&C’s current 2.5” diaphragm compression drivers. It features a 1.4” throat, a 3.4” CCAW voice coil, a titanium diaphragm, a neodymium motor, a copper shorting ring, and features 107.5 dB sensitivity.
The DE1090TN also utilizes an inside magnet format, diameter as B&C’s 3” diaphragm compression drivers. It features a 1.4” throat, a 4” CCAW voice coil, a titanium diaphragm, a neodymium motor, a copper shorting ring, and 108.5 dB sensitivity.
The 21TBW100’s features include a ceramic magnet motor, 2,400-W continuous power handling, a 4” copper voice coil, an aluminum shorting ring, double silicone spiders and a vented gap, being rated with 98 dB sensitivity, and 14 mm XMAX.
The 8MBX51 is a 8” midbass driver that features a 400-W power handling capacity, a 2” diameter copper voice coil, a neodymium ring magnet motor, 96.5 dB sensitivity, an aluminum shorting ring, and a ventilated gap area.
The 6MBX44 is a 6” midbass driver that features a 300-W power handling capacity, a 1.7” diameter copper voice coil, a neodymium magnet motor, an aluminum shorting ring, and 98 dB sensitivity.
The 8NSM64 is a sealed back 8” midrange driver featuring 500-W power handling capacity, a 2.5” aluminum voice coil, and 100 dB sensitivity. It is suitable for both direct radiator or horn-loaded midrange applications.
The 6NSM44 is a sealed back 6.5” midrange driver featuring 360-W power handling capacity, a 1.7” aluminum voice coil, 101 dB sensitivity, and hydrophobic cone treatment. It is suitable for both direct radiator or horn-loaded midrange applications.
The 5NSM38is a sealed back 5” midrange driver featuring 240-W power handling capacity, a 1.5” aluminum voice coil, 99 dB sensitivity, and hydrophobic cone treatment. It is suitable for both direct radiator or horn-loaded midrange applications.
