Member Name:
Rick Silva

Location:
Studio City, CA

Education:
Musicians Institute, Los Angeles, CA—graduate of the Guitar, Audio Engineering, and Music Video and Television and Film Production programs

Occupation: Rick is the vice president of production and product manager at Audionamix, and an audio engineering instructor for Musicians Institute (Console Operation and Practical Recording). He is also the music technology author and video artist for Hal Leonard and Alfred Publishing (e.g., Power Tools for Pro Tools, Power Tools for Logic Pro, and Choosing the Right DAW for You). Rick owns Mixed Emotions Productions, which he describes as his “humble audio cave for creativity and experimentation.”

Member Status:
Rick subscribes to audioXpress because he says the magazine is a great source for reliable information about new and classic, relevant technology. He considers it an excellent “what’s happening in all things audio” magazine. “It speaks to audio lovers from beginners, to seasoned professionals and everyone in between,” he added.

Audio Organization Affiliations:
Rick is a current full member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Audio Interests: Rick plays guitar, writes songs, and enjoys music production. He has also become addicted to all aspects of audio engineering—recording, editing, mixing, mastering, and most recently applying ADX’s audio source separation and spectral enhancement technology to the company’s technical services projects and consumer-based Separate2Create software, ADX TRAX.

Most Recent Audio Purchase:
Rick listed a 27” maxed out iMac among his most recent purchases.

Current Audio Projects:
Rick is working on a couple of high-profile, soon-to-be-announced projects for Universal Music Group. He wants to integrate spectral enhancements into ADX TRAX to refine the vocal isolation and instrumental creation software.

Dream System: For the perfect setup, Rick would include an assortment of classic microphones, a great-sounding live room connected to a vintage Solid State Logic (SSL) or Neve console, Avid Pro Tools|HDX + HD I/O 16×16 interface, Waves SSL Mercury and Studio Classics Collection, ADX Technology, and some extremely talented and creative musicians.
