Fluency-as-a-Service (FaaS) makes AI Voice Interfaces Available in Any Language

Fluent.ai Inc., the company that claims to have created "the world’s first acoustic-only multi-lingual voice interface" is now offering an intuitive and flexible Platform-as-a-Service, FaaS, for developers. According to the company, the platform allows implementations of the company's artificial-intelligence solution to "quickly customize reliable and robust voice capabilities for consumer devices and cloud service applications."

At a one day industry summit focused on the Amazon Alexa Voice Service (AVS), Libre Wireless Technologies, announced “MAVID,” an entirely new embedded voice enabled multiprotocol wireless connectivity and IoT platform. This ultra low power and incredibly small new device incorporates a complete hardware and software solution for embedded voice, IoT, audio and wireless connectivity. The new Libre platform will enable OEMs and ODMs to build unique voice-enabled products.

XMOS announced that it has completed the acquisition of Setem Technologies, a pioneer on algorithms that enable separation of voice or conversation signals within a crowded audio environment to achieve optimized input into speech recognition systems. The two companies have been collaborating on next generation voice interfaces and decided upon the combination of the companies to create a leading vendor in the fast-growing application area.

Voice processing has become one of the indispensable technologies on smart home and wearable devices. Precise and prompt voice command recognition, along with minimizing power consumption are key for these applications. Small array microphone and voice acoustic processing technology specialists, Fortemedia introduced its new iM501 voice processor, embedding a high-end Tensilica HiFi Mini DSP core, and providing a best-in-class solution for always-on voice detection with low power consumption.

XMOS announced the launch of its xCORE Array Microphone aggregation solution for voice user interfaces (VUI) in smart home applications. With the ability to aggregate up to 32 MEMS microphones, and offering USB and I2S backhaul, XMOS enables a new class of array microphones to be created. Applications include smart TVs, soundbars, virtual digital assistants (VDAs) and smart home automation.
