Test Bench: The UF 295 CBS Ultra-Thin 10” Subwoofer from Neotera

Another exciting driver from Neotera, the UF 295 CBS is a new ultra-thin 10" subwoofer primarily intended for high-quality applications in home audio or automotive systems. The UF 295 CBS impresses immediately with its single piece black anodized concave cone assembly suspended by two large rubber surrounds, one on each side, not using a spider for compliance. The cone is driven at its perimeter by a large aluminum voice coil and a unique motor structure of 72 neodymium bar magnets, covered by no less than 10 international patents. Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed an ultra-thin loudspeaker that can turn any rigid surface into an active audio source. To demonstrate the concept, MIT engineers have developed a paper-thin loudspeaker, which was now presented in public, pitching a straightforward fabrication process that could be introduced to enable the flexible, thin-film solution to be produced at scale.

Eastech has recently released five new drivers in its Punktkilde brand catalog. Punktkilde is Danish for "point source," which intends to highlight products designed by Danish high-end driver OEM Scan-Speak. The newly released drivers include the AUGWL0030-JN02, a 12" 8Ω woofer with a carbon pulp diaphragm; the 2" full-range AUGFL0005-JN08 compact design, and the 2.25” ultra-thin AUGWL0006-JN01, 3" AUGWL0008-JN07, and 3.5" AUGWL0009-JN04 radial magnet woofers.
