Speaker Measurements: Replacing IEC 60268-5 (Part 1) - What Comes Next and Why

Geoff Hill, the inventor of the Tetrahedral Test Chamber (TTC), a member of the international Electrotechnical Commission’s standards 60268-21-2018 and 60268-22-2020, and part of the IEC Working Group TC 100/TA 20/PT 60268-22 on electrical and mechanical measurements on transducers, summarizes the progress happening on loudspeaker measurement standards. The AES Audio Product Education Institute (APEI) will promote a new free webinar on its Modeling and Measurement education pillar, this time addressing “Speakers and Microphones: Simulation and Testing,” on Wednesday, August 11 (12:00pm EDT). This webinar will feature presentations from COMSOL, and HEAD acoustics exploring spatial responses of speakers and microphones, and echo cancellation testing techniques.

The Klippel Analyzer System has received another software update with new features for both R&D and QC applications. The updates are free of charge for any users of dB-Lab major version 210 or QC 6, respectively and provide new relevant tools for output-based testing of contemporary DSP-enhanced speakers, headphones and other audio systems according to the IEC 60268-21 standard.
