NXP's VIT Speech to Intent Engine with Natural Language Understanding Enables Voice Interactions On-Device

NXP Semiconductors announced the VIT Speech to Intent engine, a natural language understanding engine that leverages edge computing to enable local voice control. Part of NXP’s Voice Intelligent Technology (VIT) software suite, the VIT Speech to Intent engine rivals cloud-based systems' performance, and does not require a cloud connection, supporting improved user privacy in consumer electronics and automotive applications.

Fluent.ai announced an embedded voice recognition solution for True Wireless Stereo (TWS) and other hearable products running on the Cadence Tensilica HiFi 5 DSP in partnership with Airoha, a MediaTek subsidiary. The solution is part of an integration available on DSP Concepts’ Audio Weaver platform, which provides OEMs a rapid way to design and prototype audio features and capabilities.

Picovoice remains committed to becoming the developer-first voice AI platform for adding voice to anything. The introduction of its Free Tier service provided more than 10,000 developers with state-of-the-art voice recognition. The launch of Speech-to-Text engines has made Picovoice the first and only ubiquitous end-to-end edge voice AI platform. Now, Picovoice introduced voice AI SDKs for Italian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese. Now developers can train branded wake words and custom voice commands in eight languages.

Fluent.ai and Knowles developed a reference design for an embedded voice-controlled washing machine using Fluent.ai’s patented speech-to-intent technology, which leverages natural and flexible voice commands to trigger essential appliance actions. The solution combines Fluent.ai’s small footprint embedded voice recognition running on Knowles’ AISonic Audio Edge Processor, enabling reduced BOM costs for manufacturers of smart home white goods.
