Schoeps Microphones Launches CMD 42 Digital Microphone Amplifier for Colette Series

At the NAB Show 2024, Schoeps introduced the aptly named CMD 42 Digital Colette Amplifier, which is dubbed by the German company as "a remarkable innovation in audio technology." Something might explain why it took so long, since the Schoeps Colette microphone series is so popular in film sound and sound design, and the CMD 42 totally redefines the possibilities with AES42.

Meyer Sound announced the acquisition of a company called Audio Rhapsody (not to be confused with high-end audio equipment supplier Rhapsody.Audio), which is in fact a business founded by acclaimed sound designer Jonathan Deans of Broadway and Las Vegas fame. With the acquisition, Meyer Sound strengthens its position in theater sound solutions, utilizing Deans’ expertise to develop software solutions to expand the company’s portfolio of integrated digital systems.

Immersive sound software company DSpatial announced availability of the all-new Reality 2.0 software suite — available in four versions, VR, ONE, Studio, and Builder. This object-based production suite was specifically developed for Avid’s Pro Tools audio production software, and is now shipping in AAX format and supporting direct integration with Avid’s S6 console for mixing Dolby Atmos. The software workflow allows one single creative mix process for all delivery formats without downmixing.
