AIStorm and Knowles Join Forces to Create New Edge AI Audio Solutions

AIStorm, a pioneer of AI-in-Sensor SoCs for edge devices, announced a development partnership with Knowles Corporation. The collaboration will focus on achieving the lowest-power, highest-performance audio solutions available to enable emerging features. AIStorm’s patented analog and mixed-signal IP, combined with Knowles’ audio signal processing technology and advanced micro-acoustic microphones and speakers, bring enhanced audio features and power savings to mobile, true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, and connected devices.

Knowles Corporation, a leading provider of advanced micro-acoustic microphones and speakers, audio processing, and precision device solutions, announced the AISonic Bluetooth Standard Solution, a complete development kit that enables fast voice integration to Bluetooth devices. The kit is built upon the Knowles AISonic Audio Edge Processor IA8201, a high-performance, ultra-low power audio-centric OpenDSP, and includes SDK, pre-integrated mics, and integration support for Bluetooth chips.

DSP Group announced TensorFlow Lite for Microcontrollers SDK support for its DBMD7 family of low-cost, high-performance, multicore AI and DSP processors. The SDK for the DBMD7 allows developers of AI and high-performance machine learning applications on edge devices to avoid latencies and ensure end-user privacy devices to cost-effectively deploy high-performance machine learning (ML) inference at the edge to avoid network latencies, minimize power consumption, ensure end-user privacy, and free up scarce network bandwidth.

For this edition of The Audio Voice, I intended to focus a bit more on the latest developments in the fascinating world of sensors and how it impacts product development and design in all applications areas, particularly in consumer electronics, automotive, and health applications. After writing previously about Apple - the sensors on the Apple Watch and the surprising firmware updates for the AirPod Pro earbuds - I really didn't want to go back to Apple. But as always, Apple has a way of surprising us exactly when we least expected, and the company made another important audio announcement.
