HEAD acoustics MOBILITY Voice and Noise Conference, May 8-9, 2024

"We Cannot Predict the Future, but We Can Shape Its Sound." This is the slogan and inspiration for the MOBILITY Voice and Noise Conference, promoted by HEAD acoustics. Promising a practical look at all applications related to Voice and Noise in the mobility sector, including the latest trends and methods for automotive audio and acoustics, the conference takes place May 8-9 at the Presidio Golden Gate Club and Presidio Officer’s Club, in San Francisco, CA.

Following a period of over a year working together in development, Asahi Kasei Microdevices (AKM) has entered into a license agreement with Israel-based Silentium for automotive Active Road Noise Cancellation (ARNC) technology. Silentium’s Quiet Bubble software technology will be incorporated into one of AKM’s audio voice processors for distribution worldwide. Sample shipments are scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2022.

DSP Concepts announced a collaboration with the Automotive Systems Division of Bose Corporation to bring the company’s Active Sound Management (ASM) solutions into Audio Weaver. Engineers from DSP Concepts and Bose have completed work demonstrating the effectiveness of one of those ASM solutions – Bose QuietComfort Road Noise Control (RNC) – within the Audio Weaver environment, adding to the platform’s library of nearly 500 market-proven modules available to developers through a drag-and-drop graphical interface.

Jaguar Land Rover has revealed that it will start including Active Road Noise Cancellation technology from Silentium to remove unwanted road and tyre sounds from the cabin and provide a quieter and more refined experience for drivers and passengers. The technology, introduced on the new Jaguar F-PACE, new Jaguar XF and Range Rover Velar models, is capable of lowering unwanted noise peaks by 10dB and overall noise levels by 3-4dB – the equivalent of turning down the in-car sound system by four ‘steps’.

Asahi Kasei Microdevices Corporation (AKM) has developed a new 4-channel A/D converter (ADC) targeting automotive applications. The AK5734 is a complementary solution for microphones, aiming at active noise control systems (ANC) and road noise control systems (RNC), which are increasingly being installed in vehicles. By combining with the previously released 6-channel ADC the AK5736, the system can accommodate various microphone channels. Besides ANC and RNC, AKM says the solution is ideal for the microphone input of a wide variety of in-vehicle systems.
