Qualcomm Announces New Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform with aptX Adaptive and True Wireless Stereo Plus Support

During the second day of the annual Snapdragon Technology Summit, Qualcomm unveiled its newest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform. This is the world’s first commercial mobile platform supporting multi-gigabit 5G, the latest AI and immersive extended reality (XR) technologies, ready for the next-generation mobile devices in the first half of 2019. The flagship platform also introduces support for the new aptx Adaptive and TWS+ wireless audio experiences.

Qualcomm announced the QCC3026, a flash-programmable Bluetooth Audio System-on-Chip (SoC) that is designed to reduce power consumption by up to 50% compared to previous generation entry-level flash devices. The new SoC is also engineered to help manufacturers simply and quickly develop and commercialize feature optimized truly wireless headsets, and extends the Company’s portfolio of low power Bluetooth audio solutions following the announcement of the flagship QCC5100 Bluetooth SoC series earlier this year.

Qualcomm was an early pioneer in the concept of true wireless stereo a technology that is designed to completely eliminate the need for wires, not only between the media source and the headphones, but also between the left and right earbuds, offering users a wire-free stereo audio experience and supporting new use cases like hearables. Now Qualcomm announced enhancements to its Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo technology.

At CES 2018, Qualcomm introduced the new Qualcomm Low Power Bluetooth SoC QCC5100 series that is designed to help manufacturers develop a new generation of compact, feature-rich, wireless earbuds, hearables and headsets. The new low power, feature-rich Bluetooth solution includes support for voice assistant services, Qualcomm TrueWireless Stereo, Qualcomm aptX HD audio and integrated hybrid ANC.
