When RME Audio released the DPS-2 Power Supply and LNI-2 DC Filter and Stabilizer, it left many of its faithful customers intrigued. The two new solutions are designed to improve the performance of its ADI-2 series of converters in critical applications. One is a super low noise linear audio power supply with a unique µfilter and sensor technology, and the other is an active DC filter with galvanic isolation. Stuart Yaniger explains how these two new solutions improve what is already outstanding.

Series voltage regulators are a great way to provide almost-noise free and rock-stable DC to your audio circuits. But the load current often has distorted signal components that can generate a ‘dirty ground’ across the supply ground wires and tracks. This can introduce distortion components in other circuit sections using this ground. With shunt regulators we can keep the dirty ground localized and largely avoid the problem. German audio interface specialists RME Audio, announced two new solutions designed to improve the performance of its ADI-2 series of converters in critical applications. The RME DPS-2 is a super low noise linear audio power supply with a unique µfilter and sensor technology that adds a wide range of unique and highly useful features such as offering two differently filtered outputs. The second product is the LNI-2 DC, an active DC filter with galvanic isolation.

STMicroelectronics Receives USB-IF Certification for Complete 140W USB PD 3.1 Solution

STMicroelectronics has achieved USB-IF (USB Implementers Forum) certification of two ICs for use in adapter (source) and device (sink) sides of a USB Power Delivery (USB PD) EPR power supply/charger product. The new ICs extend the range of a universal charger to 140W, allowing for a single AC to DC adapter to charge equipment such as computers, smart-home actuators, power tools, and e-bikes, as well as traditional applications including smartphones, TWS earbuds, and Bluetooth speakers.
