Nicolas Sturmel Joins DirectOut's Team of Audio Network Specialists

DirectOut, a leading provider of bridging solutions for audio networks, is proud to announce the addition of Nicolas Sturmel to their team. Nicolas will assume the role of Senior Network Technologist, leveraging his expertise and commitment to expand the audio network capabilities of the company's R&D team. Nicolas Sturmel was intimately involved with the RAVENNA/AES67 audio-over-IP development efforts since its inception.

The Audio Engineering Society has announced a series of webinars hosted by the AES Standards Committee that will illuminate the inner workings of the often complex, yet necessary, set of rules by which engineers and equipment manufacturers abide and the increasingly important role of the AES and its work to establish audio standards and practices that ensure interoperability worldwide. The initiative from the AES Standards Committee shines a light on Audio Standards development, while seeking input and experience from the global audio community.

For those who weren’t able to attend NAB 2017 in Las Vegas, the 142nd International AES convention in Berlin was yet another opportunity to learn about the latest developments in AoIP networking from a number of industry experts including RAVENNA evangelist, Andreas Hildebrand from ALC NetworX. AES67 was among the core topics during this year’s European convention, and Hildebrand gave no fewer than three presentations during the course of the event.

Merging Technologies announced that Nicolas Sturmel has joined the company on November 1st 2016. He was previously Project Manager and Head of Research at Digigram investigating future platforms and innovative solutions for audio and video broadcasting; a position he held from 2012. Sturmel gained a Ph.D in signal processing and information technology from the University of Paris Sud Orsay. Prior to that, he was working in the music production world with a two-year spell as assistant sound engineer.
