New Neve 88M Desktop Dual Mic Preamp and USB Audio Interface

A new audio interface from Neve is always major news and at NAMM 2022 visitors were greeted precisely to a new USB desktop design that just made everyone wish this would have been launched earlier. The new Neve 88M is a dual microphone preamplifier and and USB audio interface that uses the same transformer-balanced technology as Neve's flagship large-format 88RS, bringing the legendary sound of AIR, Abbey Road and Capitol Studios into a home and portable studio setup.

RME, the German manufacturer of digital audio solutions, debuted the 12Mic Dante as the latest pre-amp to the company's lineup. The new iteration of the existing 12Mic, which was designed for AVB/Milan networks, now supports Dante thanks to a custom-built RME designed FPGA platform utilizing Audinate’s Dante IP Core, a solution that circumvents current and future chip shortages by eliminating the need for an Audinate Dante chip, assuring consistent production of the product.

Audeze, the planar magnetic headphone manufacturer based in California, unveiled the new MM-500 headphones purpose-built for professional monitoring, allowing audio engineers and music producers to have the same reference anywhere they need. Unveiled at NAMM 2022, the new MM-500 headphones are part of a planned Manny Marroquin Signature Series, carrying the name of the Grammy-winning engineer/producer, which Audeze appointed as Head of Professional Products, focusing on creating innovative new audio tools for creators and professionals.

Lavoce Italiana, the professional loudspeaker transducer company used the 2022 NAMM Show to officially launch two Next Generation high frequency drivers with unique features, expanding even more the company's fast growing catalog. The DN14.30TK is Lavoce's new 1.4” exit neodymium compression driver, a refined and more compact driver with a titanium diaphragm. Also new is the BF10.10LA, the company's first entry into the compression tweeter category.

During NAMM 2022, RTX A/S, a Danish company specializing in the design of resilient wireless audio solutions, announced the expansion of their Sheerlink audio module series. The company's new RTX1291 2.4GHz module bears strong relations to the RTX1290 module but fits additional purposes due to its higher DSP performance, enabling robust wireless audio quality with low latency for professional and semi-professional applications in musical instruments, microphones, speakers, and headphones.

The MIDI Association announced the addition of MIDI 2.0 capabilities to the Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) technology from Analog Devices, Inc. The technology will be showcased at the MIDI Association during the NAMM show in Anaheim, California on June 3-5, 2022, with a demonstration of a USB to A2B bridge, based on AmeNote's ProtoZOA prototyping board for MIDI 2.0. using open source firmware for developers to use in their own hardware and software products.

Following a soft presentation in March 2022, Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) will be showcasing its AC6 2-Way Full Range ADAPTive Column Loudspeaker at the 2022 NAMM and InfoComm shows. The latest addition to the brand’s renowned ADAPTive line, the AC6 has a frequency response from 65Hz to 20KHz and a max SPL of 143dB, delivering a versatile, low profile professional solution with top audio performance from a loudspeaker that blends into the installation aesthetics.

Neutrik has announced the launch of its new Halo product range, to be debuted on the company’s booth (#14502) at the NAMM Show, in the Anaheim Convention Center, Southern California, USA, from 3 to 5 June. Expanding its leading range of connectors for professional audio, video and lighting, the Liechtenstein-based company now designed a range of chassis connectors that use an LED light ring to add new useful functionalities during integration, setup and operation.

As more and more trade shows scheduled for the last quarter of 2021 are being cancelled (or should be), the industry is moving on and starting to plan for 2022. The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) announced that The NAMM Show, the annual “family reunion” of the global music, sound, and entertainment technology industry, will reconvene in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center on June 3–5, 2022.
