Monitor Audio Group Previews Concept 50 Cluster Loudspeaker at High End 2022

As part of the company's 50th anniversary celebration, British manufacturer Monitor Audio showcased a new bold loudspeaker development. Presented as a fully-working prototype, the Concept 50 is a three-way configuration loudspeaker with a unique driver arrangement, featuring a new-generation MPD pleated diaphragm tweeter surrounded by an array of six mid-range drivers, suspended on a two-legged cabinet configuration holding four force-cancelling bass drivers. The Concept 50 is scheduled to go into production later in 2022.

Eventually, market adoption requires that standard references are also offered for retail. Celestion announced that the CF0820BMB and CF0820M, two of its 8-inch diameter ferrite magnet, cast aluminum chassis professional audio LF loudspeakers are now available packaged individually for dealers and distributors to sell to retail.

For this edition of Vance Dickason's Test Bench, the characterization centers on the brand new NERO-6MRN150D pro audio 6.5" midrange from SB Audience, the recently announced brand from Sinar Baja Electric (SB Acoustics). The new NERO-6MRN150D features a proprietary four-spoke-cast aluminum frame with efficient cooling, a curvilinear paper/graphite composite cone and large convex paper dust cap. The motor design combines a FEA-designed neodymium ring magnet and 49.5mm diameter voice coil wound with round CCAW on a non-conducting glass fiber former. PSI Audio Updates Flagship Three-Way A25-M Studio Monitors for 2021

Swiss manufacturer PSI Audio announced a new version of its flagship three-way speaker A25-M for 2021. Following on the improvements announced in 2019 with the flow guide introduced in the A23-M monitor, and a larger, more powerful woofer engine, the A25-M boasts an entirely new midrange driver. The Extended Dome Driver (EXD) combines a larger dome and new cone formula, effectively offering the best of both worlds in the process. The new driver system is still mounted to a rotatable baffle to enable vertical or horizontal speaker placement at optimum dispersion.

SEAS Announces New Excel Nextel W12CY006 Midrange

The new W12CY006 (E0091-08) is the second product recently launched into SEAS' updated Nextel Excel series, which brings the newly updated linear low-distortion magnet system design with titanium voice coil former into this series. The new driver is a successor to the famous W12CY003 (E0044-08S) and continues the brand's high-end paper cone heritage with the 2-layer Nextel coating technology and - as a special feature - adding a new edge coating. With the resulting smooth frequency response, it is suitable as a dedicated midrange in a 3-way design.
