Luxman’s latest digital player, the D-03X, includes a host of new features such as Master Quality Authenticated full decoding for MQA files and MQA-CDs, support for DSD files up to quad rate 11.28 MHz, PCM up to 32-bit/384 kHz, Bulk Pet USB transfer and fully balanced output circuitry. It looks very much like a standard CD player, but it truly is a 21st century device, with clever display features, and most importantly, with a chassis design to last including an oversized power supply and meticulous circuit selection.

Following presentations at the 2019 AES International Headphone Conference in San Francisco or ISEAT in China, GRAS Sound & Vibration has now officially expanded its family of ear simulators with the launch of a model specially designed for the testing of high resolution audio capable headphones. Expanding on the GRAS RA0401/02 High-Frequency Ear Simulator, based on the standard IEC 60318-4 and extending the useful frequency range to 20 kHz, the new GRAS RA0403/04 Hi-Res Ear Simulator measures a frequency range to 50 kHz and beyond.

Sony released information about all the new products that intended to show in Barcelona and there is an interesting announcement of a flagship smartphone with interesting audio specifications, apart from the usual great quality screen and cameras. Chord Electronics introduced five new products at The Bristol Hi-Fi Show 2020, including the new ULTIMA PRE 2 preamp, ULTIMA 5 and ULTIMA 6 stereo power amps, plus the new 2go streamer/server and 2yu digital interface. Making its European debut, the new 2go streamer/server adds both Ethernet and wireless streaming, plus 4 TB of microSD card storage to Chord's Hugo 2 DAC/pre/headphone amp. The 2yu digital interface turns the 2go device into a standalone streamer.

This year, I was really looking forward to meeting with the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, and discuss their projects for the USB4 Specification, the really big, gigantic update story on that front (at least in consumer electronics) since CES last year. The USB-IF announced the publication of the latest and greatest USB4 specification in September 2019, offering a major update to the USB architecture that complements and builds upon the existing USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 architectures.
