xMEMS Labs and Merry Electronics Showcase Two-Way Headphone Reference Design at CES 2025

Underscoring the potential of solid-state MEMS microspeakers over-the-ear headphones, xMEMS Labs and Merry Electronics announced they will demonstrate a new production-ready reference design at CES 2025. Targeting both premium wireless over-the-ear headphones and gaming applications, Merry highlights xMEMS’ patented 2-way module architecture as a way to improve spatial audio accuracy and reduce weight for gamers, among other benefits.

USound, the MEMS microspeaker pioneer announced a strategic cooperation with OBO Pro2 to manufacture a new audio module that exceeds the requirements for high-resolution in-ear monitors (IEMs) and true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, including ANC-based designs. Incorporating OBO Pro2's cutting-edge Silicon Rubber technology and a USound MEMS driver, the new Greip dual-input speaker module enables superior audio performance and integration flexibility.

Fortemedia, a Taiwan based supplier of MEMS microphones to some of the world's leading smartphone and laptop manufacturers, has now announced the launch of its latest innovation, a coil-based MEMS speaker range. Its first product is the ForteSound FS01, which the company says extends the audio frequency response to 80kHz, with extended SPL Response and Low THD, delivering a new type of high-reliability, low-power audio transducer.

Creative Technology announced the release of its latest Creative Aurvana Ace and Creative Aurvana Ace 2 true wireless earbuds featuring solid-state MEMS-based drivers from xMEMS. The Creative Aurvana Ace series has been expertly tuned to deliver a wider frequency response ranging from 5Hz to 40KHz for high resolution audio sources, benefiting from the unique characteristics of MEMS drivers. The new Bluetooth 5.3 earbuds also feature LE Audio with LC3 codec, and Hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
