Genelec 3440A Smart IP PoE Subwoofer Introduced at InfoComm 2024

Following a prototype demo at Integrated Systems Europe 2024, Genelec confirms that will be further expanding its Smart IP family of active installation loudspeaker systems at InfoComm 2024 with the introduction of the 3440A – a truly pioneering new PoE subwoofer. The 3440A joins the existing Genelec Smart IP range of wall, ceiling, and pendant loudspeaker models to provide a scalable full-range audio solution that combines exceptional sound quality and networked convenience.

I returned from Barcelona, Spain, after five exhausting days, which were not easy for anyone in the audio industry who was forced to fly from the NAMM Show in Anaheim, CA directly to Europe. I wrote this First Impressions ISE 2024 report in an effort to summarize this extremely well organized and successful event - celebrating the show's 20th anniversary. I discuss what is sustaining this systems integration event that everyone understands as many different things, and what does it means for the audio industry.

With its history founded in studio monitors for broadcast and home listening, Genelec evolved to become a leading reference in professional loudspeakers for installation. And its Smart IP family of networked loudspeaker systems paved the way for further expansion, pioneering a concept that is a natural progression for an active speaker company. This single cable installation convenience is now expanded with the new 4435A and 4436A networked ceiling and pendant designs.

Genelec has further expanded its Smart IP family of installation loudspeaker systems with the introduction of a super compact 4410 loudspeaker model and a new Smart IP Controller app. The 4410 joins the existing 4420 and 4430 Smart IP speakers, while the free Controller app provides the end user with instant and intuitive control of key loudspeaker system functions including mute, volume control and power on/off, plus overall zone control.

Genelec will reinforce its Smart IP loudspeaker range by showcasing two models - already powered directly by the network cable - at the forthcoming ISE 2020 show in Amsterdam. The new 4420 model will join the already announced 4430 loudspeaker, both combining exceptional sound quality, single cable convenience, and the onboard Smart IP technology that provides scalable power, audio and loudspeaker configuration, supervision and calibration features via a standard CAT cable.

Genelec announced the availability of the new 4430 two-way active installation loudspeaker, the first model to incorporate the company’s ground-breaking Smart IP technology, a development effort initiated in 2005. Now supporting Dante and AES67 audio transport over PoE+ infrastructures - requiring a clever combination of a new high efficiency power supply and built-in processing - Genelec believes it can offer an ideal ideal solution, combining exceptional sound quality with single cable convenience.
