In view of the global pandemic situation and the impossibility to travel, the Audio Engineering Society confirmed that the 149th International AES Convention in New York will be instead converted to an online conference. The event is named AES Show Fall 2020 and will offer an expanded program of sessions. QSC announced it is now shipping the AD-P.HALO, an integrated SUB/SAT pendant loudspeaker system, and the AC-C2T-LP, a low-profile ceiling-mount full range loudspeaker. Registration Opens for Online AES Virtual Vienna Convention, June 2–5 2020

The Audio Engineering Society has officially cancelled the in-person components of the AES Vienna 2020 Convention scheduled for May 2020. While unfortunately there will be no exhibition as such, the AES decided to take the conference events online, offering new interactive possibilities to “Listen, Learn, Connect” under extraordinary circumstances. AES Virtual Vienna will offer a program of sessions that will be broadcast throughout the 4 days, after which they will be available on-demand, available to all registrants.

Audio Engineering Society Seeks Financial Support from Membership and Industry

The Audio Engineering Society has not proven immune to the havoc the COVID-19 pandemic is wreaking across the globe. The traditional cashflow of the Society, fueled by its events, has been severely disrupted. In response, the AES has launched a fundraising campaign to ensure the Society’s continued operation through the crisis. The goal of the initiative is to raise $500,000 USD by June 1.

Recognizing that working from home, away from the audio lab, is restrictive for many audio engineers, the support team at Listen, Inc. has produced a series of videos outlining some of the things that users can do using SoundCheck without all their usual test hardware, enabling developers and audio engineers to be productive when working from home. The videos span from cleaning up test sequences, to exploring offline analysis, using the recall step, to learning the new SoundCheck 18 features and more.
