Renesas Acquires Dialog Semiconductor to Strengthen Leadership in Embedded Solutions

Japanese advanced semiconductor solutions manufacturer Renesas Electronics, and Dialog Semiconductor, an established supplier in power management, charging, AC/DC power conversion, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth low energy (BLE) technology solutions, announced they have reached an agreement towards an all-cash acquisition by Renesas of the entire capital of Dialog for EUR 67.50 per share, representing a total equity value of approximately EUR 4.9 billion (5.8 billion USD).

Designers of compact consumer devices like hearables can now slash solution size by half and extend battery life by 20 percent with the MAX77654 single inductor, multiple output (SIMO) power management IC (PMIC) from Maxim Integrated Products. The breakthrough new SIMO technology replaces traditional power management architectures for the most demanding designs in wearables and personal audio devices, reducing BOM count by up to 40 percent, with 23 percent lower BOM cost compared to discrete solutions.

Qorvo introduced a power management integrated circuit (PMIC) that expands the company’s portfolio of products for rapid in-vehicle charging of phones, tablets and laptops. Qorvo’s ACT4751M is an AEC-Q100 qualified step-down, voltage-regulator IC dedicated to USB Type-C Fast Charger applications and meets all power requirements, including the Power Delivery 3.0 Programmable Power Supply (USB PD 3.0 PPS) specification.
