Silicon Mitus New High Efficiency Switched Capacitor for USB Type-C Fast Charging Applications

Silicon Mitus released the SM5428, a Switched Capacitor Battery Charger. The new DC-DC converter from the company has been highly optimized to meet the demands of the emerging fast charging applications in the USB Type-C market, offering a higher efficiency that allows for a reduced time to charge the battery and better management of the thermal dissipation during the recharging cycle of the device. A solution tailored specifically for smartphones, tablets and any other battery powered consumer devices.

Texas Instruments (TI) introduced a pair of highly flexible, single-chip buck-boost battery charge controllers for one- to four-cell (1S to 4S) designs. The bq25703A and bq25700A synchronous charge controllers support efficient charging through USB Type-C and other USB ports in end equipment ranging from notebooks and tablets to power banks, and smart home applications.

Tektronix unveiled its innovative Keithley 2281S Battery Simulator/precision DC Power supply to shorten design and test cycles for mobile devices. The new battery simulator from Tektronix uses a battery model that includes state of charge, amp-hour capacity, equivalent series resistance, and open circuit voltage.
