Lectrosonics to Receive 2017 Academy Award for Technical Achievement

Lectrosonics' David Thomas, Lawrence E. Fisher and David Bundy will receive a 2017 Academy Award for Technical Achievement, for advancing the state of wireless microphone technology in the design, development and engineering of the Lectrosonics Digital Hybrid Wireless System and Technology. Presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Technical Achievement Academy Awards recognize contributions of significant value to the process of making motion pictures.

As it happens every year, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and producer of CES, announced the Best of Innovation Honorees for CES 2017. The annual CES Innovation Awards honors outstanding product design and engineering across 28 product categories. The announcement came from the annual CES Unveiled New York industry event. Among the winners are audio products from ReSound, Crazybaby, OSSIC, SVS and Paradigm Electronics.

RMAF 2016 in Denver, held on 7-9 October, marked the largest-ever public showcase of MQA (Master Quality Authenticated)-ready products, supported by hundreds of MQA albums available to download. The MQA team was recently recognized at the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEA), held on 6 October in London and, at RMAF 2016, MQA’s founder, Bob Stuart, was awarded the Rocky Mountain International Hi-Fi Press Awards’ Lifetime Achievement Award, while the company won the Innovation category for the second year running.

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA - former CEA) announced its Best of Innovation Awards Honorees for CES 2016. Among the winners in 27 product categories is Harman, with the JBL Reflect Aware in-ears, Klipsch with its Reference Premiere Dolby Atmos Speaker System, and Sengled Voice, the first integrated microphone and speaker LED bulb on the market.

This year’s Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) Expo event is being held in Dallas, TX, at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, from October 14–17, 2015, with the actual exhibit sessions taking place from October 15–17. 2015 CEDIA Expo includes special focus areas for security, two-channel audio, and high performance audio rooms.

The 2015 edition of CanJam Europe, in Germany, strengthened the show’s position as Europe’s largest dedicated headphones and personal audio event. Record visitor and exhibitor numbers as well as additional exhibition floor attest the ongoing interest in the market segment. This year, for the first time, CanJam Europe 2015 had visitors vote for their favorite products of the show.

The PLASA Awards for Innovation & Sustainability 2015 and the Gottelier Award were presented at the PLASA Show at London’s ExCeL. This year, 31 products were nominated for the Awards for Innovation & Sustainability, with eight awards presented, including a final Gold Award for Innovation. In audio-related categories, Avid, d&b audiotechnik, Flare Audio and Neutrik received recognition from the jury.
