Riedel Acquires Archwave and Cymatic Audio and Creates Zurich IP Engineering Hub

Underlining its commitment to standards, Riedel is making continued investments in new technologies with its acquisition of Swiss engineering pioneer Archwave. The new partnership will create a strong research and development (R&D) hub in Zurich and increase Riedel’s global engineering team to over 100 engineers while expanding its R&D capabilities for IP and standards such as AES67, which will further boost interoperability in the broadcast world.

This year’s Integrated Systems Europe (ISE) show evidenced how far professional AV industry recognition of the power and potential of OCA (AES70) has grown. On its booth, the OCA Alliance promoted awareness and adoption of Open Control Architecture - also known as OCA and standardized as AES70 - running two key “proof of application” demonstrations, and showing Archwave’s AudioLAN 2.0, a unique commercially available solution leveraging both AES 67 and OCA (AES70).

Following a series of interoperability demonstrations at previous trade shows, during NAMM 2017, Cymatic Audio announced the addition of Dante compatibility to the AudioLan option card for its uTrack24 multitrack recorder, player and interface. Cymatic also added an all-new Playlist feature ideal for “virtual sound check” purposes and/or enhancing live band performances with pre-recorded tracks, for its uTrack-X32 expansion card.
