Zylia Introduces ZR-1 Ambisonics Recorder and 6DoF VR/AR Development Kit

During the 2019 AES Convention in New York, Zylia unveiled two major additions to its industry-leading 3D audio recording and production portfolio of solutions, designed around the Zylia ZM-1 spherical microphone array. The new Zylia ZR-1 portable recording device and 6DoF VR/AR Development Kit add greater flexibility to 360-degree and 3rd order Ambisonics recording applications, responding directly to market demand, particularly field applications.

Sennheiser has taken a majority sharehold in Dear Reality GmbH. The German company specialized in spatial audio algorithms and VR/AR audio software will continue to operate as a separate company based in Düsseldorf and Dear Reality confirms that its existing customers will be able to rely on existing dearVR products, while looking forward to new joint VR/AR workflows developed in collaboration with Sennheiser. Uwe Cremering, responsible for AMBEO Immersive Audio at Sennheiser, will support the company as a third CEO alongside founders Achim Fell and Christian Sander.

The Audio Engineering Society is promoting its second International Conference on Audio for Virtual and Augmented Reality. The conference and exhibition will bring together a community of influential research scientists, engineers, VR and AR developers, and content providers to explore topics such as spatial audio capture, binaural, ambisonics, wave field synthesis techniques, 3D Sound field navigation, HRTF modeling, reverb and room acoustics synthesis, 3D audio content production, and sound design for VR/AR. The three-day conference takes place in Redmond, WA.
