Freedman Electronics Group Acquires Soundfield From TSL Products

On the eve of its 50th year in business, The Freedman Electronics Group, home to pro audio brands RØDE Microphones, Event Electronics and Aphex, expanded its company portfolio, purchasing the surround sound recording SoundField range of products and technology from broadcast equipment manufacturer TSL Products. With this acquisition, RØDE gains access to the leading brand in surround production and Ambisonic audio, in the exact moment when the format is gaining momentum.

TSL Products, a leading broadcast equipment manufacturer, has become the latest company to join the growing ranks of the RAVENNA audio networking community. Based in the UK, TSL Products designs and manufactures a range of hardware and software solutions to facilitate operations within the TV broadcast, cable, satellite, IPTV and IT industries.

Audinate, creator of the industry-leading media networking solution Dante, has announced that over 500 Dante-enabled products are now available from licensed manufacturers worldwide. This represents more than a 60% increase in the number of available products in the last 12 months, including a remarkable take up in the broadcast market.

Audio files can now be corrected and adjusted for loudness, Dolby-E shuffling and up/down mixing without being sent back to post-production suites. TSL Products’ new Phinix Suite of Software are now available and will be showcased for the first time in Europe at IBC 2015, in Amsterdam.

Pro Sound Effects has announced the release of NYC Ambisonics, its first sound effects library containing files captured with SoundField microphones and delivered in Ambisonics B-format bundled with SurroundZone2 software, allowing to point “virtual microphones” in any direction for greater control and creativity.
