Mycroft Ai Launches Mimic 3 Text-to-Speech Software for Voice Assistants

Mycroft AI, the startup company from Kansas City, MO that created a privacy-driven, open-source voice interface technology platform, announced the release of its latest text-to-speech (TTS) engine, Mimic 3. The open-source and fully customizable neural TTS software was designed to provide a natural sounding voice, with over two dozen languages and more than 100 different voice sets. It can run completely offline on low-end systems, including Raspberry Pi 4.

The MIDI Association announced the addition of MIDI 2.0 capabilities to the Automotive Audio Bus (A2B) technology from Analog Devices, Inc. The technology will be showcased at the MIDI Association during the NAMM show in Anaheim, California on June 3-5, 2022, with a demonstration of a USB to A2B bridge, based on AmeNote's ProtoZOA prototyping board for MIDI 2.0. using open source firmware for developers to use in their own hardware and software products.

Sonos Releases pyFLAC Library for Realtime Lossless Audio Compression in Python

FLAC is the most universal compression algorithm for audio, allowing to maintain a perfect reconstruction of the original data. As an audio manufacturer that supports FLAC in all its home audio (Wi-Fi) products, Sonos decided to improve its own development tools by creating an efficient alternative to using the original FLAC library (libFLAC) written in C, and created a Python implementation for lossless encoding/decoding focusing on real-time streams. pyFLAC is now available as a free-to-use package.

Raspberry Pi Relaunches Four IQAudio HATs Following Acquisition

Raspberry Pi has relaunched four IQaudio HATs as official Pi audio add-on boards with lower prices ranging from $20 to $30: the IQaudio DAC+, DAC Pro, DigiAMP+ and Codec Zero. In December 2020, Raspberry Pi Trading announced it had acquired IQAudio and would be relaunching their Raspberry Pi audio HATs at lower prices. Now, IQAudio’s four most popular HATs have been relaunched as official Pi accessories and are available via the usual Pi resellers.
