European Union Project ORPHEUS Shows Object-Based Media Innovations

On 15th May 2018, the EU-funded ORPHEUS consortium presented their results at a workshop in Munich, Germany. The event served to summarize how the ORPHEUS project has created a full set of tools and applications for object-based media innovations, including demonstrations of a future-proof radio service, perfecting the complete workflow for object-based audio and IP-based delivery, and demonstrating object-based broadcasting innovations including foreground/ background control, language selection, immersive sound, and enhanced program services.

Sennheiser has been named a CES 2016 Innovation Awards Honoree for its state-of-the-art Orpheus headphones. The electrostatic headphone system has been honored in both the ‘Headphones’ Category and the ‘High Performance Home Audio-Video’ Category. Sennheiser’s Orpheus, which will be hand-crafted in Germany and available from mid-2016, impressed the jury with its combination of innovative technology with carefully selected materials and highest-quality craftsmanship.

Following the intriguing teaser web campaign “Reshaping Excellence”, launched September 1st during an event in London to celebrate its 70th anniversary year, Sennheiser finally revealed the successor to the legendary Orpheus, originally introduced in 1990. The 2015 Orpheus reintroduces the concept of the world’s best headphones.

Sennheiser introduced its first closed audiophile headphone model at the High End 2015 show in Munich. The new Sennheiser HD 630VB are circumaural headphones, designed to deliver well balanced sound and offer a distraction-free listening experience. A unique feature is a rotary bass dial, which allows increasing the bass response according to personal preferences.
