Open Control Architecture Alliance Exhibits at Prolight+Sound 2015

The OCA Alliance is continuing its promotion of the OCA message at this year’s Prolight+Sound exhibition, both on the exhibition floor and in the activities of its members at the show. Among exhibiting member companies, d&b audiotechnik is launching its next generation D20 amplifier, a major new OCA enabled product.

OCA Alliance member companies Yamaha Commercial Audio, TC Group and Salzbrenner Stagetec, joined d&b audiotechnik in presenting the current status and future vision of Open Control Architecture, as these relate to the AV Installation and Systems Integration markets, at ISE 2015. The OCA vision of a common remote control standard to the AV industry seems to be picking up momentum.

The Integrated Systems Europe 2015 show in Amsterdam will be a decisive moment for Audinate and its Dante audio over IP media networking technology, adopted by nearly 200 leading OEM manufacturers. For the fifth consecutive year, Dante’s AV Networking World series of informative presentations and hands-on workshops will be held Monday, 9 February 2015.

The OCA Alliance successfully made the case for Open Control Architecture at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles. The OCA Alliance made considerable progress in promoting the benefits of its proposed standards-based control and monitoring architecture for networked audio devices employing any media transport protocol. AES project “AESX210” is currently working to render OCA into a ratified AES standard.

The AES and OCA Alliance will be working together at the forthcoming 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles towards the ratification of the alliance’s proposed Open Control Architecture as an AES public standard. The alliance will also be exhibiting, demonstrating the benefits of the OCA standards-based control and monitoring architecture across networked audio devices from different manufacturers.

The 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, CA, (October 9–12, 2014) will certainly be one of AES’s most complete and relevant technical programs. Several of the topics relate to the issues we have been following in audioXpress—from spatial audio and transducers to room acoustics, cinema sound, and audio signal processing.
