A New Era for Arduino: Original Arduino Founders Finally Get 100% Control

BCMI, the company founded by Massimo Banzi, David Cuartielles, David Mellis and Tom Igoe, co-founders of Arduino, has announced that it has acquired 100% ownership of Arduino AG, the corporation which owns the Arduino trademarks. Following the acquisition, Massimo Banzi becomes the new Chairman and CTO of Arduino. Fabio Violante will be appointed as the new CEO, replacing Federico Musto who will pursue other opportunities outside Arduino AG.

The new Arduino-compatible platform Arduino/Genuino 101 presented by Intel during the 2015 Rome Maker Faire features an accelerometer, gyroscope and Bluetooth Smart connectivity to enable the development of connected devices. With a form factor identical to the popular Arduino Uno and based on Intel’s low-power Curie platform the board is set to retail for $30 and will be available in the first quarter of 2016.
