Silicon Labs Complete USB Type-C Reference Design Now Available for Developers

Silicon Labs has introduced a comprehensive reference design that reduces the cost and complexity of developing cables and cable adapters based on the USB Type-C specification. Silicon Labs’ new USB Type-C reference design features cost-effective, ultra-low-power EFM8 microcontrollers (MCUs), USB Power Delivery (PD) protocol stacks certified by the USB Implementation Forum (USB-IF), and USB Billboard Device source code.

Freescale Semiconductor introduced the new Kinetis KW41Z – the industry’s first multi-mode radio MCU to support concurrent operation of IEEE 802.15.4 Thread and Bluetooth Smart/BLE connectivity while hosting associated applications. With Bluetooth v4.2 support, the Kinetis KW41Z MCU helps transform simple devices into advanced connected systems.

STMicroelectronics has revelead its contribution to the innovative Prizm smart audio device, which automatically plays the perfect song, based on the number of people in the room, their music tastes and habits, and even the time of day and ambient noise levels. ST’s leading-edge microcontroller and sensor technologies enable Prizm’s smart audio and touch interactions.

Microchip announced an expansion of its low-Cost PIC32MX1/2 Series MCUs now with larger Flash and RAM, offering optimized performance, memory and peripheral mix support for digital audio with Bluetooth, USB audio, embedded control, low-cost graphics and touch sensing applications.
