The design kit combines Chirp’s ultrasonic signaling protocol for smart-enabled devices with DSP Group’s SmartVoice technology to allow connectivity between nearby devices without requiring any set up, pairing, or configuration.

Chirp, the company that pioneered data-over-sound technology, announced its support of Arm Cortex-A and Cortex-M based architectures, enhancing device-to-device connectivity on any Arm-based product with audio capabilities. This follows the recent release of Chirp’s Arm SDK, which provides a software-defined acoustic data transmission solution, optimized for Arm processors and substantially lowers the cost for applications such as device provisioning, proximity detection, 2-way acoustic NFC and telemetry in RF-restricted environments.
