Audio Engineering Society Honored with Technology & Engineering Emmy Award for AES67 Standard

The Audio Engineering Society (AES) has been named a recipient of a Technical & Engineering Emmy Award for “Development of Synchronized multi-channel uncompressed audio transport over IP Networks” by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). The 71st annual Technical & Engineering Emmy Awards will be presented in a special ceremony at the upcoming NAB Show at the Wynn Encore Hotel on Sunday, April 19, 2020, in Las Vegas, NV.

At the 2016 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) hosted an expanded live AES67 demonstration between networked components operating with RAVENNA, Dante and Livewire AoIP transports. This was the largest demonstration of AoIP interoperability so far, following first public demonstrations at the AES NY convention and ISE 2016 exhibition.

A maintenance revision to AES67-2013 – the AES standard for high-performance streaming audio-over-IP interoperability – has been issued. The revision, called AES67-2015, clarifies some of the interoperability requirements, based on general implementation and “plugfest” experience.

How is AES67 going to change our industry? The Media Networking Alliance is hosting this “open” panel discussion as part of its extensive InfoComm 2015 activities. The Orlando event will also feature several sessions with Alliance executives and knowledgeable experts, providing insights on AES67 and how to benefit from the standard.
