From 1975 to a New Benchmark with the Luxman CL-1000 Tube Control Amplifier

Luxman’s new flagship control amplifier, the CL-1000 is the spiritual heir to the legendary C-1000, launched in 1975. Yet even as it salutes the past, the new preamp looks forward with an all-new LECUTA volume control system, a nanocrystal core transformer, Luxman’s proprietary oil-impregnated capacitors and more. “The CL-1000 represents everything Luxman knows about vacuum tube audio,” says Jeff Sigmund, president of Luxman America. “It’s not just our newest preamp, it’s our new benchmark.”

Audioburst announced two new strategic and investment partnerships totaling over $10M USD from Dentsu Inc. and Hyundai Motor Company in conjunction with existing investors. The next-gen voice-search company plans to build unique advertising and in-car voice-based experiences with the two leading brands. Audioburst also announced plans to formally launch in the Japanese market at the end of 2019 with Japanese language capabilities.

Targeting a slightly wider range of vinyl enthusiasts, Luxman America introduced the PD-151 belt-drive turntable. Luxman based the new analog player on the company’s highly regarded PD-171A, which was introduced in 2014 and continues in the line. “As enthusiasm for vinyl surges, the PD-151 is poised to introduce Luxman turntables to even more music lovers,” says Jeff Sigmund, president.

On March 20, 2018, the "Record Day," Panasonic Corporation released the video of the world's first full orchestra performance featuring Technics turntables as the only instruments, under the Technics brand's theme, "Rediscover Music." It's basically a room full of "turntablists" scratching away over classical music. Technics created a special website for "The Philharmonic Turntable Orchestra."

Yamaha re-created the singing voice of deceased Japanese musician “hide” (Hideto Matsumoto) using its unique singing voice synthesizer technology Vocaloid to complete unrecorded and unreleased songs. Analyzing in detail the massive amount of digital vocal data that the Japanese singer recorded during his lifetime, Yamaha was able to re-create his voice using Vocaloid technology.
