JBL Announces New High-Definition Imaging High End Speaker Series

Designed and engineered in JBL’s engineering facility in Northridge, California, the new JBL HDI Series features two floorstanding loudspeakers, a center channel speaker, a bookshelf model, and a powered subwoofer. The series is named after its patented High-Definition Imaging (HDI) waveguide, coupled with a family of patented compression drivers, and patented low and mid frequency transducers, allowing for powerful dynamics and accurate sound reproduction. Thoughtful, modern curved cabinets with quality finishes with magnetically attached grilles complete the designs.

Consumer appetite for premium headphones continues to grow, with global revenues rising five times faster than shipments in Q1 2019, according to the latest market tracker report from Futuresource Consulting. As the CE Team at Futuresource highlights in its latest update of the Worldwide Headphone Market Report, headphone market revenues have reached $5.9 billion. True wireless maintained its ascendance, outperforming all other form factors with growth of 223% in units and 188% in value.

Market research firm Futuresource Consulting released its latest Headphone Market Insights Report which highlights how consumer demand for 'true wireless' headphones was up 182% in Q4 2018. The global headphones market continued its meteoric rise in Q4 2018, with revenue growth outpacing unit shipments by a substantial margin. The firm’s latest headphones tracking quarterly report reveals worldwide Q4 headphones shipments grew by 5.5% in units and 54% in revenues year-on-year.

Global Home Audio Trade Revenues Approached $15 billion in 2018

Futuresource Consulting revealed the latest findings from its World Wide Home Audio Report, confirming the worldwide home audio market signaled an increase of 21% in units in 2018, whilst posting revenues of nearly $15 billion, with major contributions from smart speakers to drive the growth. According to Futuresource, the growing presence of entry level smart speakers from Amazon, Google and Chinese brands impacted the overall average price for a home audio device, down by an estimated 12% the end of 2018.

Harman Introduces JBL 4312G Studio Monitor at CES 2019

At CES 2019, Harman introduced the JBL 4312G studio monitor, another modern take on the classic JBL loudspeaker line - which seems to be the trend for the consumer side of the brand in the last two years. Crafted in the mold of the legendary 4310/4311 family, and the more recent 70th Anniversary 4312SE, the 4312G is said to deliver “thundering, clear bass, with crystalline and precise highs, even at the highest listening levels.” We are not sure those would be the arguments that would persuade us to invest in the vintage concept of this high-performance studio monitor.
