CEA is now called the “Consumer Technology Association”

In Step with Tech Evolution, the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) unveiled its new name – the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). CTA announced the name and introduced its new logo at CES Unveiled New York, a half-day event offering a sneak peek at the year’s most innovative products and technologies two months before CES 2016.

According to the latest industry report released by the Consumer Electronics Association, retail revenues for the consumer electronics industry are now projected to grow 2.4 percent in 2015 to reach $285 billion, led by 101 percent year-over-year growth in emerging product categories. Smartphones, tablets, TVs, laptops and notebooks add to record revenues.

Worldwide shipments of headphones keep on growing year after year and are already one of the top consumer electronics categories. The problem is, with all the excitement, it seems that many companies are not actually doing proper marketing research. Both in mass-market oriented designs and those models targeting high-end users the market is also being flooded with “me too” products.

With more than 3,600 exhibitors across the largest show floor in history with more than 2.2 million net square feet of exhibit space, breaking last year’s previously set record of 2.06 million net square feet, the 2015 International CES is poised to be a record-breaking show. Owned and produced by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), the 2015 International CES runs through Friday, January 9.

An estimated 51.2 million American adults (45% of all shoppers) bought or planned to buy consumer technology products during the 2014 Thanksgiving shopping weekend, according to a survey by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). Several areas saw notable spending growth over last year, including reported spending per person and tech purchases in wearables, TVs, wireless speakers and tablets.
