The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) announced the release of a new positioning paper titled "AV Over IP: It's Real, and It's Transformational." The paper takes a closer look at the impact of the media-over-IP movement on the pro AV and installed systems markets. A key focus is AIMS' efforts to promote a single set of common, ubiquitous protocols for interoperability over IP in the pro AV industry, based on the SMPTE ST 2110 standards suite for video, audio, and data transport.

DirectOut Updates MONTONE.42 Firmware with ST 2110-31 Support

A major firmware update has been released for the MONTONE.42, DirectOut’s MADI to Ravenna/AES67 converter. According to the German networked audio and interconnectivity specialist, the transparent transport of AES3 audio data over IP is now possible with the MONTONE.42 through the newly added ST 2110-31 support. Meanwhile, DirectOut Technologies also announced the appointment of a new distributor in the US for the non-broadcast related pro audio market segment of the industry.
