Yamaha has launched new MG-X models of audio mixing consoles, designed for live and installed sound applications where high quality SPX digital effects are needed. Intuitive and easy-to-use, these compact mixing consoles are ready for the road or the studio, with three models - MG16X, MG12X, and MG10X - that will also do well in conference rooms, or event spaces, benefiting from D-PRE microphone preamps with an inverted Darlington circuit, and 1-Knob compressors, among many valuable features.

It's been a while since the market has seen new product launches in the compact audio mixing consoles category, which have once reached record-breaking sales volumes - and Yamaha always managed to stay top of mind in the category. Now in its third incarnation, the MG Series embodies the company's design excellence, and incorporates some of the same technologies developed for use in high-end professional consoles, including studio-quality preamps, powerful digital processing, and a rugged, reliable construction.

In the year that Yamaha marks 50 years history of analog mixers, the new MG-X models sits between the acclaimed MG and MG-XU consoles, which are used in a wide range of situations, from medium-sized live music venues and corporate events to home studios, streaming, podcasting and vlogging.

While the increase in streamed audio has made the MG-XU models very popular with online users, thanks to its USB functionality, Yamaha says there is significant demand from the corporate conference and event markets for compact mixers with high quality SPX effects, but without USB. The new MG16X, MG12X and MG10X have been introduced to satisfy this demand.

Yamaha SPX effects processors have been a byword for excellence in audio multi-effects since 1985. The MG-X’s SPX effects work harmoniously with discrete D-PRE mic preamplifiers and custom made MG01 operational amplifiers to deliver the best sound quality. In addition, ‘1-knob’ compressor gives users instant access to optimized compression settings for speech, vocals and instruments via a single rotary control.

All three MG-X models feature a robust metal chassis and can be quickly and easily installed wherever needed. The MG10X can be installed on a microphone stand with the optional BMS-10A adaptor, while the MG12X has an optional 19-inch rackmount kit and the MG16X has integral fixings for rack mounting. MG-X models also feature a grey color master section, blending better into the equipment space while providing an instant visual reference for quick location of the master controls.

"Since their launch in 2003, MG series mixing consoles have been installed in a wide range of business and public facilities, including conference rooms, presentation and live music venues, hotels, banqueting and wedding halls, as well as being favored by musicians, both live and in the studio," says Chihaya ‘Chick’ Hirai, General Manager of Marketing & Sales at Yamaha’s Pro Audio Division.

"In most cases high quality, easy to manage effects are needed as a standard function and, with Yamaha’s SPX effects a byword for excellence since 1985, we have listened to our customers and added them to the standard MG models with the new MG-X models. It provides a wide range of new options and we hope that the new contemporary look for the master section will appeal to the installation market."
