Vicoustic Creates Next-Generation VicAudiophile VMT Kit to Address Acoustics, Health and Safety of Listening Spaces

Vicoustic developed a new generation of eco-friendly, advanced sound absorption and diffusion solutions to treat any listening room, allowing users to truly enjoy a hi-fi system. The new VicAudiophile VMT Kit is an upgradable approach to acoustic kits, created to maximize the conditions of a room, without compromising health, comfort and safety. Users can freely select how many kits they apply, according to the chosen configuration.

No matter what type of hi-fidelity system is used, if room acoustics are not properly addressed, listeners will effectively receive more sound energy coming from the room than from the actual loudspeakers they have selected. Portuguese acoustic treatment solution company Vicoustic produces a large portfolio of acoustic treatment panels that help address any such needs, while also offering an extensive range of materials and finishes to serve all aesthetic concerns. In recent years, Vicoustic embraced an extensive research in order to redesign its complete range of panels with sustainability in mind. In 2017, Vicoustic began paving for this transition, by introducing Vicoustic VMT, a new range of panel using only sustainable materials, and to replace all foam-based products. Gradually, the company has introduced these new-generation panels in different form factors to address different applications.

The latest VicAudiophile VMT Kit was developed to allow both users and integrators with a practical solution to improve room acoustics for both home applications and dedicated listening rooms for high end audio experiences. The new VicAudiophile VMT Kit features 4 Flat Panel VMT with VicSpacer Plus, for enhanced absorption performance, 4 units of VicPattern Ultra Wavewood and 2 units of Multifuser Wood MKII 64, for sound diffusion. All panels are available in 3 different matching finishes (Natural Oak, Brown Oak and White Matte), including exclusive VMT colors Sage Green and Natural Linen.

Created exclusively by Vicoustic, Flat Panel VMT panels are made from VicPET Wool, and are designed to perform primarily in the medium and high frequencies. Therefore, these panels provide a great acoustic solution to be used on ceilings and walls. The VicPattern Ultra Wavewood panel is one of the leading solutions used for Absorption and Reflection Control System in the Vicoustic catalog. These panels are ideal to control noise energy in a room, also using specially engineered PET wool. The Multifuser panels, made from solid wood are attractive and highly effective QRD diffusors using two different parts. Each part can be rotated in different directions so that a uniform, omni-directional scattering of sound is achieved, particularly effective in mid and low frequencies.

With this standard panel selection, depending on the purpose, available space and budget, users can improve the acoustics of any room with just one or more kits and applying all the panels at once or in multiple steps. As an example, a user can start with one kit to address first reflections from side and front walls, move forward to improve ceiling treatment with a second kit, and fully treat a room including back walls in a third stage.

Users can also change the configuration of the room anytime, whenever they introduce new equipment or simply decide to place their speakers differently. All panels feature the VicFix J Profile mounting system, allowing users to easily change the use of sound absorbing and sound diffusion panels, depending on preferences, speaker design, measurements or even the type of music. Using the VicFix Corner mounting, users can also apply VicSpace Plus Flat Panel VMT and VicPattern Ultra panels as additional bass traps in the corners.

All Vicoustic VMT and Ultra panels available as part of this kit are sustainable solutions and offer a welcoming alternative to standard absorbing foams. Vicoustic developed these panels in order to maximize acoustic performance while achieving sustainability goals by using only recycled materials (produced mostly from recycled plastic) that are also recyclable, and improving human health (air quality), and safety (reducing fire hazards) indexes.

Standard sound absorbing foams normally used as acoustic treatment panels can contain harmful chemical components, that have been identified to compromise air quality and are a common source of health and safety hazards. Most of these foams pose a serious fire risk and cause considerable environmental impact since they are non-recyclable. Vicoustic’s newest line of products was developed to address all those issues while using recycled materials, using predominantly recycled PET Bottles (65%), which are recyclable and low emitting materials (low VOC emissions).

All the panels used in the new VicAudiophile VMT Kit take advantage of all this approach, while helping to maximize the acoustics of any listening room. These products maintain all fire safety regulations and are classified as Class 1 according to the OEKO-TEX 100 standard, that goes beyond national and international requirements established for baby textiles.
