Three-Day Lecture by Wolfgang Klippel Scheduled for 2024

December 11 2023, 00:35
Klippel is promoting a new 3-Day Lecture, following the popular format of previous editions. The main topic for 2024 will be Sound Quality of Audio Systems, Modeling, Measurement & Control. The three-day event combines both theory and practice and will take place March 4-6, at the Technical University of Dresden, Germany. Registration for the lecture is now open for a fee for general admission and is free for students.

The 2024 lecture on "Sound Quality of Audio Systems" is presented by Dr. Wolfgang Klippel, professor at the Institute of Acoustics and Speech Communication. The 2024 edition of this popular event will offer attendees a deep understanding of measurement and diagnostic techniques used in professional applications to design small, light and cost-effective loudspeakers, including for automotive applications. The content reflects over 30 years of fundamental research by Klippel, allowing participants to improve their designs and optimize manufacturing processes.

As in previous editions, all presented content is highly recommended for students of electro-acoustic, and anyone in the audio industry active in research & development, manufacturing, or quality control. "Linear, nonlinear and time-variant systems with lumped and distributed parameters model the generation of signal distortion. The course makes the relationship between symptoms and physical causes of the distortion more transparent," Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Klippel explains.

The lecture is divided into four topics:
  • Electro-Acoustical Modeling,
  • Measurement and Analysis,
  • Interpretation and Diagnostics, and
  • Digital Loudspeaker Control.

Klippel's experienced development engineers will present practical sections to deepen participants' understanding of electroacoustic measurements on Klippel devices and illustrate theory with industry examples.

As in previous editions, the popular house party at Klippel headquarters will return March 04, 2024, at 6 pm. Klippel is also organizing an in-house exhibition with technical demonstrations and room for discussion open to all attendees. "The Klippel House Party is a great opportunity for further networking and knowledge exchange for the conference attendees," Klippel General Manager Benjamin Barth explains.

New topics that will be presented in 2023 include a discussion of the IEC standard 60268-23 for testing large loudspeakers (panel, arrays, TV, monitors, etc); rating max SPL according to IEC standard 60268-21; testing transducers with small baffles on the Klippel Multi Scanning Workbench; and measuring the nonlinear residuum in reproduced music signals.

Those interested in attending the 3-day lecture should reserve their seats and complete the registration.

Before this education event in March, Klippel will also attend Integrated Systems Europe 2024 in Barcelona (January 30 to February 2) and the team will be at the Audio hall, in booth 7F910.
