Q Acoustics Introduces M40 Connected Micro-Tower Speakers

Q Acoustics introduced the M40 powered micro-tower wireless audio system, another attempt from the British audio specialist to offer a convenient and cost-effective way to fill any home with powerful, high-quality sound. Following the success of its M20 HD wireless audio system, Q Acoustics brings its expertise and latest acoustic technologies to a more compact, fully integrated audio system.
The room-friendly and ultra-compact micro-tower design of the Q Acoustics M40 speakers (just 28"/71cm tall) provides ultimate positional flexibility. The new design delivers 2x 100 watts of built-in amplification and fully integrated high-resolution wireless streaming via Bluetooth 5.0 with aptX HD compatibility. Numerous connectivity options also allow the M40 speakers to deal with any sound source, such as a TV, turntable (with a built-in phono preamp), games console, set-top box, CD player, and external network streamers.

In line with previous successful speaker designs from Q Acoustics, the new M40 micro-towers embrace the same C3 (pronounced ‘C-cubed’) Continuous Curved Cone design in the mid/bass driver to ensure smooth, nuanced tweeter integration and extremely capable, but controlled bass. The C3 Continuous Curved Cone mid/bass driver is Q Acoustics' latest advancement in driver technology.

First seen and heard in the 5000 Series of loudspeakers, C3 combines the bass performance of a traditional straight cone with the high/midrange control and fidelity of a flared cone. The best of both worlds, matched with a tweeter-at-the-top driver configuration. The decoupled tweeter, along with Helmholtz Pressure Equaliser (HPE) technology reduces unwanted standing waves inside the cabinet. The cabinet itself features Q Acoustics' proprietary Point to Point (P2P) internal bracing to keep the speaker as rigid and inert as possible.

With this well-designed configuration, the M40 speakers are designed to serve quality high-resolution stereo sound - ideal as a main audio system in settings where space is at a premium, and perfect as a step on the hi-fi ladder for those who don’t want a component-heavy system of hi-fi separates, and those who want the ultimate second-room system.

Specified to meet every eventuality, the M40 speakers are able to support any audio source, starting with an integrated Bluetooth 5 receiver compatible with aptX HD and aptX Low Latency technology supporting up to 24-bit/48kHz streaming from any compatible device such as a smartphone, laptop or tablet- and even appropriately specified televisions. For the real hi-res audio experience, users can also connect the M40 speakers to a computer via its USB input and enjoy true uncompressed 24-bit/192kHz resolution.

In any case, the Q Acoustics M40 have unbalanced line level and digital optical inputs and can easily connect to a games console, a TV, a set-top box, pre-amplified turntable or any other source of sound. Users can even attach a subwoofer in case they really want to shake the room.

It's also easy to setup the M40 system to perform anywhere in the room. As well as being able to designate the powered speaker as either the left or right channel (to make accessing mains power as simple as possible), there’s also an EQ switch to let the system know if each speaker is positioned in a corner, against a wall or in free space so its digital sound processing can optimize the audio performance.

Particular attention has been given to the M40 grille design. Fixing the grille to the baffle, rather than be removable, allows for added strength derived from the baffle and significantly reduces the grille's structure, particularly around the drivers. The result of the M40’s open grille design minimizes disruption of sound dispersion patterns, while reducing reflections.

These compact and discreet Q Acoustics tower speakers fit seamlessly into any interior space, and their high-quality finish – available in Black, White and Walnut - will complement any home decor. The Q Acoustics M40 speakers are available now from dealers and retailers, priced at EUR €899 or USD $999.
