Propellerhead Software Becomes Reason Studios and Announces Reason 11 Music Production Software

August 27 2019, 00:30
In 1994, a Swedish company named Propellerheads setup to create what would become one of the most powerful music creation software platforms in the world. The company later changed its name to Propellerhead Software as it expanded its portfolio of software and technologies for musicians. Now, the company announced that it is changing its name once again to become Reason Studios, as it announced a major update to its flagship music making software, Reason 11.

Enabling music makers of all major digital audio workstations to plug the Reason Rack into their sessions, Reason 11 now includes the Reason Rack Plugin (VST 3 /AU), on top of a number of updates to its standalone music making software. Reason 11 will be released September 25, with AU plug-in support scheduled for the end of 2019. This major release is announced when Propellerhead Software is also changing its name to become Reason Studios.

“We’re changing our name to Reason Studios to clearly express our dedication in delivering the best experience for all music makers, regardless of where they are in their creative journeys,” says Timothy Self, Chief Product Officer. “The world really knows us for Reason. Reason Studios encapsulates our mission of building a platform for all music creators. Reason 11, with its seamless integration into other music production software, truly exemplifies how we want to open up to the world.”

“The rack of devices has always been the core of Reason. Now with Reason 11, anyone can easily add the Reason Rack Plugin to their favorite DAW,” explains Mattias Häggström Gerdt, Propellerhead Product Manager. “With the addition of 6 new devices, the Reason Rack is bigger than ever, so that you can make music the way you want. We've, of course, improved Reason as a DAW too, adding some of the most requested workflow features like improved sequencing and editing.”

Together with the new Reason Rack Plugin functionality, Reason 11 allows users to sequence, edit, draw, crossfade, curve and zoom to build new tracks faster than ever, and next draft and polish the sound with new innovative modulation effects and a trio of devices pulled from Reason’s powerful "million-dollar" mixing console.
