PreSonus Introduces MicroStation BT Bluetooth 5 Stereo Monitor Controller

May 10 2021, 01:10
Recognizing the ubiquity of Bluetooth as a requested wireless audio option, PreSonus announced a new stereo receiver solution for convenient connectivity with studio monitors and speakers. The new PreSonus MicroStation BT compact device is a Bluetooth 5.1 stereo monitor controller that is able to receive audio from a smartphone, tablet, or another Bluetooth source and feed it to existing audio systems. For better integration with studio systems, the MicroStation BT can also be hardwired to a powered subwoofer to create a 2.1 listening environment.

Aware of the demand for convenience above everything else, PreSonus designed the MicroStation BT with a quick pair to source Bluetooth-enabled devices with a simple press of a button. Because, normally studios already have fully connected (wired) audio systems that require full baseband quality, the Boca Raton-based company knows perfectly well that this is basically a guest or client request - usually someone who requests to hear something from his smartphone. The MicroStation BT delivers a solution without complications, while providing the correct level of integration for any studio or professional audio environment.

A stereo 1/8-inch (mini-jack) input even enables eventually hardwiring an audio source (a laptop or an iPad, which still have audio jacks) avoiding having to use Bluetooth. And there is a Bluetooth On/Off button to toggle between Bluetooth and analog sources. There are also balanced left and right 1/4-inch TRS inputs to route audio from pro audio hardware, such as an audio interface, to the speakers and subwoofer. This means, that project studios that already have a fully-featured monitor controllers, can add the MicroStation BT and use it as an additional input option.

Home studio users can also connect their favorite powered subwoofer using either the balanced 1/4-inch TRS or unbalanced RCA Subwoofer outputs. And a mini-jack stereo headphone/aux output lets users connect headphones or send stereo audio for streaming, recording, and more.

A large, ergonomic Volume knob allows simultaneous control of the overall level of the connected speakers and subwoofer. A Sub Bypass button mutes the subwoofer feed so users can quickly toggle between a 2.1 system and just the full-range speakers. A main Mute button with an LED status indicator silences the speakers or headphones without stopping the audio whenever that annoying friend (or client) decides to take the call during a session.

And for greater convenience, PreSonus already included a USB-C connector for powering the MicroStation BT with a 5V USB power adapter.

The PreSonus MicroStation BT is available now for a US street price of $129.95, which is fine for an updated Bluetooth 5.1 device with all the right connectivity options.
