The Philips Fidelio X3 are over-ear, open-back, traditional wired headphones with a design that clearly appeals to anyone that enjoys listening to music for extended periods of time and wants something that combines performance, style and comfort. The design stands-out thanks to the application of highest-quality materials from European specialists including responsibly sourced Muirhead leather from Scotland covering the headband, and Danish Kvadrat acoustic fabric.
Featuring double-layered earcups with a new internal ridge construction designed to reduce vibrations, the speaker plates of the Fidelio X3s are pre-tilted to a 15-degree angle to fit more accurately to the natural shape of the ear, and to ensure the music is directed straight into the ear canal for a truly immersive listening experience. The strong, dark satin steel frame, and soft velour memory foam ear-pads provide the final touch in terms of comfort.
Internally, the headphones feature high quality components ‘end to end’, including the large 50mm drivers using multi-layer polymer diaphragms – gel filled for better damping – and a powerful neodymium motor system that allow the Philips Fidelio X3 to deliver a full range, spacious quality sound. By eliminating the air pressure build-up behind the diaphragms, an immersive and spacious sound is born, unhindered by the open-back design and the acoustically transparent Kvadrat speaker fabric. Balanced and unbalanced inputs means these headphones are ready to be combined with any headphone amp, a smartphone or mobile devices. An optional balanced cable will add an additional level of enjoyment.
These Philips-branded audio products are part of the 2020 portfolio launched by TP Vision, the company that since 2011 develops, manufactures and markets Philips branded TV sets and sound products. TP Vision is the exclusive brand licensee of Philips TVs for certain regions of the world and, on the global stage, for the Philips audio products. The new Philips Fidelio X3 headphones were one of the highlights at CES 2020 as a flagship product, and being the updated version of the hugely popular open-back Philips Fidelio headsets.
TP Vision has tuned the Philips Fidelio X3 response to "combine accuracy with generous bass and a warm mid-range – where the focus is on a tight, impactful sound with exceptional separation of instruments and voices, while the high-end of the spectrum is clean, detailed and provides excellent extension," according to the Philips Sound description. The result, they add, "is a spacious, large scale delivery with music appearing to extend well beyond the confines of the headset, creating a unique experience that is both authentic and accurate."
The Philips Fidelio X3 has finally entered production and is now shipping, selling for $349.00.
