Orchard Audio Starkrimson Streamer Ultra Combines 500W Stereo GaN Audio Amplifier and PecanPi Streamer

Orchard Audio announced a new powerful integrated product that will contribute to expand even more the brand's market. The new Starkrimson Streamer Ultra combines a complete audio streaming and network player, and amplifier all inside a minimalist enclosure. In a single chassis, the New Jersey company offers the Starkrimson Stereo Ultra next-generation GaN amplifier integrated with the versatile PecanPi Streamer. Just add speakers.

The Starkrimson Streamer Ultra represents a new approach to affordable high-end audio, with a system that offers commanding performance in a discreet package. Ideal for users who seek superior integration and convenience, the system can perform the same functions that once required a rack full of components.

The Orchard Audio Starkrimson Stereo Ultra amplifier uses the same proprietary dual-feedback modulator and latest gallium nitride (GaN) transistors that Leo Ayzenshtat, the company's founder, has been successfully exploring in its designs. The result is able to deliver 125/250/500W into 16/8/4Ω (2-ohm capable), while maintaining extremely low noise and distortion.

These transistors from GaN Systems provide less harshness, cleaner highs, and better overall transparency and detail with irrelevant noise levels. In the design, the pulse-width modulation is performed completely in the analog domain before being amplified by the GaN power stages. And Ayzenshtat uses its proprietary DC-coupled, fully balanced dual feedback modulator, which allows the amplifier to be completely balanced from input to output, through the use of bridged GaN power stages.

Inside the same aluminum and steel chassis of the Starkrimson Streamer Ultra, available either in matte black or brushed aluminum (silver) finishes, we now find an integrated solution combining the company’s popular PecanPi streaming platform. This allows the integrated design to still benefit of the size and weight reduction, increased power, efficiency, and sound quality of the GaN-based stereo amplifier, with all the flexibility and power of the PecanPi Streamer.

The PecanPi Streamer works with the open source Volumio player and can work as a DLNA/UPnP and AirPlay renderer, as well as a native TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Alexa, and Highresaudio.com integrated platform, supporting native playback up to 24-bit/192kHz. It also works as a Roon end point and TIDAL Connect, among other integrations.

The Starkrimson Streamer Ultra is available with either Volumio or Roon end-point software installed and can be controlled directly with any smartphone, tablet, or PC. An optional USB port (Volumio only), and upgraded power rail capacitance are available.

With an MSRP of $3,499.95 US for the base model, Orchard Audio is offering preorder prices where the first 10 customers will save $1,000; the next 10 will save $750; and all other preorder customers will save $500. Units are scheduled to begin shipping in late November 2021.
